The fuck you mean “how did this happen?”

Steam didn’t allow adult games then they did. So now there’s adult games.

I watched the video. It’s really trying to trace out the arc of adult video games in the US more-broadly than Steam. He does talk about some of the Steam stuff too, which is a little more than just “didn’t allow than allow”.

That being said, I feel like I would have enjoyed the video more with fewer joke visuals thrown up. Also, I feel like the coverage is uneven…like, it could have done with more research, I think.

It’s US-centric, which is fine, but he does reference Japan vaguely. I think it might be interesting to see what was going on other places for context.

It’s also fairly-focused on the commercial side of things (which I guess sort of makes sense, since Steam is primarily about distribution of commercial games, though there are also noncommercial games on Steam).

Ah, so they use the steam logo for clickbait then. Glad I didn’t watch it

Well, it’s true that there are dramatically more adult titles on Steam than there were a few years back. And the video does mention that. It’s just that it’s really that the video is mostly talking about the history prior to that point. I think that it’d be more-accurately-described as “the history of adult video games in the US including the current increase on Steam”.

I, for one, have never had a desire to procreate while precariously balanced on top of some steep cliff like a goat.

          Sounds like a wild kink.

I bet it’s quite the adrenaline rush.

valve didn’t want adult games on their platform, shortly afterwards gog has adult game sale, valve goes back on their stance and allows adult games from then on forward (that get past their approval process, non-adult games still get denied. rip dungeon travelers 2).

  • There were porn games on the Atari 2600 (Custer’s Revenge, Beat 'Em & Eat 'Em, etc). Porn is ubiquitous to humanity. Always has been and probably aways will be until we evolve past sexual procreation.

As long as there’s an age restriction and tools to filter out anything you don’t want to see (which there are), why is it a problem? Most people on steam are adults. Just hide it if you don’t want to see sexual content.

Surprised he didn’t mention Corruption of Champions, which really set the bar for indie porn developers.
