There was a Republican plan in Arizona to put forward two legislative backed ammendments: One banning all abortions and one enshrinning abortion rights. The catch? On the second proposed ammendment it allowed the legislature to “regulate” abortions.

They were hoping that the Republicans would vote for the two legislative backed ammendments, while the democrats vote for the two ammendments that enshrine abortions rights (the legislative back one and the voter signature backed one).

In the case that two ammendments on the same topic pass, the one with the highest vote count gets enforced. Then the legislature goes: “OK, we will regulate it. No abortions after 15 weeks.” -even though a majority voted for the signature backed ammendment.

In my opinion every single state should put a measure on the ballot.

Option one : ban all abortions

Option two : legalize all abortions no restrictions

Option three : no on both options. (For those that don’t agree with either option)

Let the chips fall where they may. It should be a constitutional vote for each state. Why not a US constitutional vote? Because the public can’t vote on the US Constitution. But we can on state constitutions.

Strong disagree from me - abortion access is a necessary form of healthcare and healthcare is a human right.

The UK voted for Brexit so I’d rather only see these plebiscites in the direction of justice and healthcare access. This issue is too important for gambling.

Don’t forget - it’s also a privacy issue! Ignoring the very valid healthcare reason for allowing abortion, the decision to have a medical procedure should be between a patient and their care provider - the government doesn’t need to (and shouldn’t) pole their nose into it.

Not directed at your comment, but also… Making abortion illegal is just as asinine as making suicide illegal. The only thing it does is cause more harm to those already in a bad situation. No one is forcing abortion on people. The opposite of pro life is not pro choice, it’s mandatory abortions for all…
