A French official said there is no record of a scheduled meeting with the South Dakota governor – nor had they invited her

The French government has joined the chorus of detractors taking aim at South Dakota governor Kristi Noem’s political autobiography No Going Back, which many now see as having eliminated her chances of being Donald Trump’s vice-presidential selection.

Days after Noem removed a passage claiming she had met with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, officials at the Élysée Palace in Paris are questioning a passage that describes a cancelled meeting with French president Emmanuel Macron.

It’s beginning to look like the only true passage in that book is the one where she describes killing a puppy.

So just imagine how much worse the real story is.

At a minimum, we’ve already heard rumors that she was simply pissed off and embarrassed, and that people were way closer than they should have been to a person angrily wielding a firearm.

Is it confirmed? She’s such a blatant liar I’ve wondered if she even lied about that.

So, she’s like Santos, but an animal murderer?

I get decisions on farms can be tough/unpleasant with respect to other animals, but her descriptions of what happened just seem lazy.

Agreed. I’m willing to allow that the dog was probably never going to be a skilled hunting dog, though I don’t trust her to have determined that. It may even have been dangerous, though I rather doubt that had to be its destiny, and, again, we have some credibility issues with our decider.

There are just so many layers between a nippy, excitable working dog that’s struggling with the (likely inadequate) training, and shooting it in the head in front of people. Then the goat thing confirms that she isn’t isn’t some sort of calm and skillful rural badass; she just likes the power inherent in hurting things that don’t do what you want them do.

Maybe most of our politicians are a bit sociopathic, but for fuck’s sake can we please elect the ones that are more skillful at masking and methodically figuring out what the emotionally functioning humans want them to act like? It’s cynical, and a depressing level of low expectations, but that used to be the bar.

Hopefully the animal stories were fake too and no animals were harmed in the making of her downfall.

Yes, I’m sure they were instead taken to a nice farm upstate! (No one tell them. Let’s let one person have a peaceful life.)

The more stupid and contrived it all sounds, the more apt she seems to be for the VP position on the orange ticket.

Yep, the conservative shows have had minor outrage at this, but the Trump voters will go right along with it, if not praise her right on down to the ballot box.

There are almost 20 cities in the United States with more residents than all of North Dakota. I don’t know how she got so huge in her own mind. It would be far more believable that the mayor of New York or La would be hobnobbing with world leaders, than the governor of South Dakota.

The fact that you mixed up the Dakotas in your comparison to cities really emphasizes your point

Why would anyone have thought otherwise? What are the odds that a world leader of a global power would meet with a regional official from one of the smallest and least politically relevant states in America?

How many of the people that vote for her would know that Macron is a world leader of a global power?

I was under the impression that she was not going to name names of the world leaders she met with. Are you telling me that she lied?

Well she didn’t meet with him…so technically she didn’t lie

My guess is she was “planning” to meet with him but never told anyone (except her publisher) and ultimately “cancelled” it because she probably had no idea how to even approach getting such a meeting in the first place

I mean, I’m not going to read it so I definitely won’t be fact checking it
