Also also, if I am scheduling something first thing and it’s late in the work day, I’m messaging the key people. To do otherwise seems like bad planning/choice making/trying to get out of meeting at that time. Alternatively, I would just send the invite as the first contact. At 8:59, if the key people hadn’t responded, cancel with the message, not everyone was able to meet. How about this date and time?

I also have a customer service requirement in my performance evaluation that says something about responding to emails within a fairly small amount of time. This reaction counts. So, yeah, everything that doesn’t require a real response gets a 👍 or a 🎉. I’m not missing an opportunity to get a raise or getting a quality improvement plan for something ridiculous like that.

I placed an order at a restaurant where you have a name for the order, but you also have names for particular food items. The main name was Mario Mario. The food items were various SMB characters. I went to pick up the food in a Boo shirt and Mario baseball cap. I heard them talking about Mario’s last name being Mario and Luigi’s last name being the same. Anyway, I went over to pick up the order, they noticed my clothes, and started laughing. Good times. Anyway, I like using character names.

Yes, plus, it’s not the people who already know they constantly lie that they are trying to convince. It’s the people who don’t pay a lot of attention and occasionally get something. They’re trying to tell that person that Democrats are doing this for them.

If it’s a quick thing, I respond quickly. If it’s a complicated thing, I respond slowly. If I am answering a technical question, I usually take an hour or more to write, let it sit for an hour and up to four. Then, I revise for 30-60 minutes. Sometimes I let it sit again, and revise again. Most emails don’t get this treatment, but what I say needs to be accurate, based in statute and consistent with the tenets of my field. What I tell others may be used as the basis for decisions for years, and may be quoted to the service providers we oversee. It’s worth it to take the time. I also tend to use the language I’ve used in previous emails when writing responses to similar questions. So, I save some time that way.

We decorate for Christmas and Halloween, but I enjoy the Halloween ones a bit more. People in my area are more likely to decorate for Christmas, sadly.
