I have a friend in Serbia and apparently it’s just an election stunt. What the proposal from UN aims to do is to just establish a day of remembrance to a genocide that happened, but the ruling party has twisted it into “UN is trying to declare us as a genocidal nation” to garner increased support from the nationalists.

The election itself is a re-run of a previous election, due to the previous election being pretty much rigged by the same ruling party. Simply incredible.

I’m confused, is this meant to be support for Palestine or distancing themselves from the Bosnian genocide of 1995?

Because it’s pretty hard to argue just under 30 years after committing genocide that you’re not genocidal.

I hope the UN vote goes through, would be great to have a second day where S*rbians are globally whining about facing consequences of their past actions

Reminds me of a dealership near me which actually had “The honest used-car salesman!” as their slogan.

would work if they were upfront about the cars being shit and charged effectively scrap value for them

like people putting up listings for broken devices going cheaply, with the target audience being people who want to repair them or use them for parts
