Please do not tell me “Thank you for your service” then turn around and write my name in Comic Sans
Did you know that Comic Sans and similar fonts are easier for dyslexics to read than standard fonts? The higher degree of asymmetrical characters helps. This discovery led to the development of fonts specifically meant to be easier to read by dyslexics such as dyslexie.
I learned about this because one of my college roommates is severely dyslexic, but absolutely brilliant (he would memorize everything he read because it was easier for him to remember everything than to have to read it again).
Comic Sans looks awful, but it is not all bad.
Remembering everything because they don’t want to read again is motto I wish I had
Papyrus!
Same difference.
My dad was drafted into Vietnam and disabled as a result. He passed away over 10 years ago as a result of Agent Orange exposure.
I would give anything to be able to ask him how he feels about my mom, his wife of over 30 years, being a Trump supporter.
It blows my fucking mind.
I support the conscientious objectors who managed to get out of serving in Vietnam. In fact I feel relieved for them - and immense empathy and sorrow for people who did go, whether drafted or volunteering thinking it would be an honorable way to serve. If you read some Tim O’Brien it can help to paint the no-win picture that was that horrific war. Support your vets and also policies that minimize wars.
And also veterans’ healthcare (like Jon Stewart).
I don’t think I’d thank anyone from the Vietnam War. At best I’d say, glad you came back alive. I’d most likely say nothing though.
Understood.
They dislike the empty platitudes of “thank you for your service,” regardless. Say something original, if you support the armed forces. Which I don’t, but maybe you do.
I’m pretty sure they used to call this guy a baby killer. The hypocrisy that the same people that called him that are the ones to jerk him off post 9/11.
Edit: Some of ya’ll need to watch Rambo…
He is the only draft dodger I respect less than draftees. Otherwise it’s a pretty based practice. Why would you kill and die for Nixon?
This is a mess of an opinion. You don’t have respect for people who got drafted…?
That’s like respecting someone because they got hit by a car. That’s sucks and all, but how does respect have anything to do with it?
Shit I forgot that everyone who got drafted participated in that. Ok I hate draftees now, you’ve convinced me!
What did they do to earn it? Should I respect IDF soldiers because they’re drafted?
You should feel bad for the ones that were. A lot of people can’t afford to risk draft dodging. It’s like telling a starving man to boycott certain foods.
Pity and respect are two very different things.
Fair enough
Ok now you’re just being an ass.
There’s a baseline of respect you should have for your fellow humans and you’ve implied that you don’t have it for draftees for some unknown reason. Was that not your intent?
Not really. Sure, there’s a baseline of respect for all humans. They are exactly at it, not any higher than any other person, all else equal. Draft dodgers are slightly higher because it’s a based thing to do. And as I said earlier there’s an exception to draft dodgers.
