I don’t get that. I would rather be a Billionaire in a “moderated” democracy, than in a system where you can just disappear or fall out of a window, if a single more powerful person wishes so.

oligarchy
Not unlike Russia today.
Well, except that your votes still carry some weight in the U.S.
Not a hell of a lot, but certainly more than Russia.
I would also rather be a billionaire in a system where workers rights are respected, everyone has enough money and work is fairly paid. These people aren’t like us however - they want more and more and more and more, and as long as they see a chance to come out on top, they’ll take it. Musk would rather be a little bit richer in a dictatorship than have only his current wealth in a democracy. If you’re not like this, there’s no chance to become a billionaire.
They think they’re going to be the top person.
At least they have a reason to believe that. The idiots on welfare who think they’ll be allowed into the club as soon as the government stops holding them down are the ones I don’t get.
I don’t get that either.
Instead, Elon is well on his way to kill twitter and tesla.
Thiel has been really quiet since he started the crap with SVB. Besides Palantir investing in customers that immediately get into multi-year contracts with Palantir, I don’t know what other sketchy stuff that weirdo is into.
Edit: apologies but a source for the palantir crap -> https://www.newcomer.co/p/is-palantir-buying-revenue :D
No fucking shit.

Check out the costume in that article pic. If Tesla goes under he can just move over to the rock scene, right? Metallica can become MeTeslaca. I see some similar features. Think anyone would notice if someone swapped him for Hetfield…oh…wait, didn’t someone already swap a Hetfield with a Hetfield?
Musktallica
Do you see it too, in terms of facial features, though? Once I realized it, I can’t unsee it now.
Damn, I can’t unsee it now.
Right?!?
The only comfort I can find in this is that in a constant battle of consolidating an individual’s power, it is very difficult to maintain a cohesive political movement in the long term.
In other words, I think these people are too selfish to build or maintain any society at all. This is bound to crumble sooner than later, but it is sad to see underprivileged and stupid people be taken on this shitty ride. And it really fucking sucks that the rest of us get swept in their shitstorm.
billionaires have already done this. they want to take power from the other billionaires
We live in a plutocracy run by oligarchs.
If they kill democracy and take the power, it looks like oh wait USSR.
And replace it with… what? My interest is piqued.
Democracy means we can vote for other leaders after several years they did the wrong things to get rid or em. Just imagine we could do this with Elon too. He wouldn’t be where he is atm. No ex X user, no ex X programmer, no ex X staff member would’ve voted for him after the next election. This is what Elon fears most, together with his donators.

Bold move there, Cotton.
You guys believe there is democracy in the US?
Believe it or not? yes.
tho the distrust in the democratic institutions is literally the groundwork for abolishing democracy, and at least half of the media landscape is owned by people who want to abolish democracy, so where do you think most of the “government bad” stuff comes from?
Democracy is when elected officials work for interest of the people who gave them a mandate, not for the wealthy donors who circumvent the will of the people.
Democracy is when officials are elected, period. They may be bastards, and the wealthy may have a (substantially) outsized influence on the government, but the American people by-and-large have much greater influence over their elected officials than most other countries, especially non-democracies.
