De Niro, who has been a frequent critic of Trump through the years, had been scheduled to receive the NAB award, its highest individual honor, “in recognition of charitable work and public service.”

“I don’t mean to scare you. No no, wait, maybe I do mean to scare you. If Trump returns to the White House, you can kiss away these freedoms that we take for granted, and elections, forget about it … He will never leave,” De Niro said.

'Seems like De Niro is still doing public service with these comments though.

A “bipartisan” group doing the most partisan thing they could to punish someone with opposing views.

It is particularly weird to claim to be bipartisan after this move. I feel like if they claimed to be nonpartisan, that could make some sense.

I used to be a NAB member. They are utter shit. Totally beholden to Sinclair, News Corp. et al.

        Sinclair, News Corp. et al.

You couldn’t be more correct. The NAB became shills for Sinclair. I have to deal with Sinclair on a yearly basis, usually on New Year’s Eve when they try to bully people into accepting their shitty contracts. Fuck Sinclair too, they’re part of the problem our country has right now with the dissemination of misinformation. Fucking trolls the whole lot of them.

Just completely devoid of shame, aren’t they?

Yeah, they use it as a negotiation tactic since they know we have to have a team member at every location we own across the country on standby ready to pull the plug. Since no one wants to be at work on New Year’s Eve they think it works against us. What they don’t understand is that even though none of us want to work that night we will gladly pull the plug on their asses even if that means working on New Year’s Eve. Somehow a deal is usually reached just before midnight.

This event is proudly bipartisan, uniting those from across the political spectrum to celebrate the impactful work of local broadcasters and our partners

This makes me wonder what would shake the media out of their business-as-usual attitude. Even if the Republican party didn’t represent an existential threat to democracy in this country, the unprecedented conviction by a jury of a former president on 34 out of 34 felony counts seems newsworthy enough to warrant taking a stand on the side of “fuck that guy”.

It’s a shame that the NAB have decided to do this. But oh well, there’s more than one award in the world.

I would like to present Robert DeNiro with the Balls Of Steel award for being a decent person, for taking a stand, and for kicking serious ass. Respect.

So, the NAB can tell people what they can of cannot say? Was Biden there? Was it a campaign rally? Sounded more like a public service announcement.
