“due to to an issue with the digital code supply chain that was outside our control.”

Looks like they owned someone else’s mistake. Props.

“in exchange for this code all you must do is know, deep in your heart, that none of this is my fault as the person in charge of talking to the code distributor. I checked that form at least three times and I’ll be damned if I let a few thousand people think I messed up” – A paragraph that was definitely present in the first draft of the message.

I absolutely love the candor in that statement. Thanks for posting it.

That’s one of the many things to love about Larian: even their patch notes are completely candid and very humorous, often making fun of themselves when appropriate 😁❤️

As someone who used to work with creating DLC codes for code-in-box pack-ins, I’m SHOCKED this doesn’t happen more often. Sometimes it’s as simple as a checkbox in a submenu in a submenu of the submission information of a title not matching a different checkbox, especially when you start adding in combos of ‘deluxe editions’.

They’re not really being “generous” by allowing people who already redeemed the code to keep it, it’s just WAY too much of a hassle to remove and re-do those codes for specific people. It’s much easier to just nuke ALL the codes and send out new ones.

I’ll buy their next game. If it’s even half way interesting. I’ve also played their stuff since dos and have enjoyed everything they have to offer

Taking it back wouldn’t even make sense. Who buys DLC for a game they don’t already own?
