I can’t tell if she’s a romantic or a realist either.
I’m thinking there’s a key to Chokki-chan’s appeal there. Somehow her world is both fantastical and mundane.
She’s not a chuunibyou - it’s not that she fantasizes about a fantastical life. It’s more that she recognizes her very mundane life for what it is, but sees wonder in it anyway.
There might be an existentialist lesson to be drawn there…
It’s like someone called her a Manic Pixie Dream Girl and she said “nah, pixies aren’t real, but let’s go chase some dreams!”
We are only 22 chapters into this series and the way these two have grown closer together has felt so extremely natural. So many other series could take note that you don’t need grand gestures or contrived situations in order to have two people fall in love with each other. It can be just as simple as walking home and spending time together.

I love romcoms where the romance is from the couple being together, I honestly care little of all the drama they usually have (particularly true for the Heisei and Shōwa eras manga) before hand. Also, PLEASE TALK TO EACH OTHER! Misunderstandings are fun if it is a gag manga, not in a romance.
