You don’t require a credit card to develop, you require a credit card for publish.

I have a Mac set up at work for CI testing with no Apple ID or payment associated with it. Can’t use the App Store but I don’t need to for the C/C++ build tools and anything from homebrew. Updates install without issue.

Me: “Didn’t they unbundle those already?”

Article: “Last year the tech giant unbundled Teams from Microsoft 365 in an effort to quash antitrust concerns by the EU, but the European Commission said the changes were “insufficient to address its concerns.”

Just a default install of 365 and the only thing that popped up on the screen was teams. It was a separate uninstaller, which was nice I guess? But you have to dig through the 30 language un installers for 365 to find it.

Hey, do you want to open it in the browser, or teams? Both are pieces of shit. That’s it. What other option where you thinking of?

Oh you wanna project so everyone can see? Ok here’s full screen! Oh yeah, we can show those employee icons bigger! Oh you mean full screen! Here’s this option, we just need to hide 70% of your screen. There! Tiny screen full mode!

        Ugh. The browser then!

"Hey, you should try using Microsoft edge! CLICK THERE TO TRY and here to not. Are you sure? Really? Last chance. Ok, for now. "

Looks like you’re using a local account. Do you want to upgrade to a Microsoft account where you must have Internet to get to your shit? No? I’ll remind you in 3 Microsoft days…73days and counting…72d…71… 3 seconds…5hrs…25minutes…50days…

In my work machine, mine has a special feature when someone shares their screen during a call and you go full-screen - the extreme audio lag feature.

But MS teams is very secure! It’s sandboxed in a web browser :) It’s effectively a single-tab display of an entire ram-eating chromium process :)

The only unfortunate side effect is that it can’t read your system default audio output, so it uses a cryptographically secure random number to decide which other audio output to use. That’s right - it very securely knows about all of your audio outputs, even though they aren’t the system default :)

Did you just try to send someone a file? Don’t worry, I’ve put the file in sharepoint for you, and have sent them a link instead. Actually, wait - you had already sent that to someone else, so I sent file (1).docx instead. Actually wait - that was taken too. Now it’s file (2).docx.

I would like to provide a friendly reminder that you will need to manage the file sharing permissions in sharepoint should anyone else join this 1-on-1 direct message chat :)

Now do one for One Drive downloading files from your desktop by default on Windows 11. It’s default opt-out now. So until you notice it’s uploading everything to the cloud and stop it… You’re getting no notification about the behavior or a choice to enable it in the first place. Just gobbles your data to the cloud without asking.

Since the user did not approve it, it sounds like mass copyright violation to me.

Please do Chrome first, though. At least Edge has introduced solid features, whereas Google has a history of limiting other browsers on its websites to promote Chrome.

Last year, I heard so much about the EU forcing Microsoft to allow users to choose a browser and a search engine.

      Did that not happen?

In the past few years, my workplace has used Webex, Zoom and Teams. I definitely hate that we’re using Teams now because the others are better when it comes to meetings. Teams is unusable for me half the time while the others just worked. Lag spike during the call? Now the microphone doesn’t work. Or it will work but no one can understand you while you talk.
