      The guy that got arrested says the president asked him to do it to raise the president’s popularity. Does seem a little suspicious to try a coup with almost zero support, and then just roll over when the president says to stand down.

        That makes no sense. Why would the military guy go along with that plan, and then after being caught as planned he then suddenly tells the world about the plan?

          No idea, that’s just what he said. Usually a couple has support from high level officials in the military. Seems like he skipped a step.

      I don’t think this would help them in this case. The current president was part of the Morales administration and is a member of the Movement for Socialism. Neither of those are very close with the US.
