I just noticed that when I look at a game which I know nothing about and Steam says “Mostly Positive” I tend to immediately get suspicious

    My internal rating is:

Overwhelmingly positive: game is actually quite good and also probably, but not always, a niche game.

Very positive: most people don’t hate it

Mostly positive: Game has one or two big, specific issues for most people, like a specific performance or gameplay problem, but is otherwise fun.

Mixed: game either sucks or has had some controversy. Usually games that are good but not worth the money go here.

    Mostly negative: game sucks

Overwhelmingly negative: exclusively reserved for shovelware and yearly sports games like FIFA and NBA games.

Donut County and Stray are both quite short and an absolute delight to play.

Robocraft used to be good, but I don’t know if it being rated mostly positive and being good ever overlapped

Update, I just played Industria which is rated mostly positive and it was so good. I’ve always wanted a game that felt like Simon Stålenhag’s art and Industria really does

Mostly positive usually just means it’s not for everyone, just look at Shadow of the Erdtree.

Dark Nights with Poe and Munroe is the only game in my library that came up as mostly positive, and it’s a…mood, for sure

Imagine if a community theatre group made a cheesy suspense/mystery film that ended up feeling like an excuse to dress up sexy. When they finished they sold it to a game studio who chopped up the video, added some quicktime events and shipped it.

Mechanically it’s not great, and it’s not great writing, but when I opened myself up to the silliness of it I enjoyed it
