I personally have no problem with nsfw of almost any kind, in fact I have nsfw content enabled and unblurred. So I may have higher tolerance than average, and so I wanna know what people (especially the admins) think.

On [email protected] we’ve had 2 memes reported as needing a nsfw tag yesterday:

  1. https://lemmy.world/post/1605124

  2. https://lemmy.world/post/1623624

I asked the poster of #2 to mark it as nsfw, but let #1 be as that’s just wordplay we can easily find in Disney cartoons. But then I also realise that the comments may lean more towards nsfw for some tastes? And I don’t wish to moderate that.

So I asked a poster of another meme to tag it as nsfw too:

  1. https://lemmy.world/post/1670456

The downvotes indicate my request isn’t popular.

Maybe I’m overthinking it, but as I said I wonder what other people think. I’d rather give people more freedom than restrictions.

A community is a thing that evolves. It is created by the people. When there are issues within the community, you can always ask them. For example, on my community c/Games there was a discussion about memes. I simply run a poll and the community decides. Now you cannot do that for every little thing, but it is always a option.

Regarding the NSFW. There are clear rules as stated in de official rule page. These rules are site wide and the same for all mods:

Do not post about inflammatory, controversial subjects without a Content Warning. Ideally, you would not post about inflammatory subjects at all. However, it may be acceptable to do so in some cases, but it is never acceptable to post inflammatory content without hiding the content behind an appropriate Content Warning.

Do not post any type of nudity without a Content Warning.

Granted. I guess I’m thinking about this specific thing more, because it’s a Star Wars community, and that’s a big topic. Elsewhere I wouldn’t bother as much.

I’ll probably be doing a meta post there soon anyway, but wanted to see some input from maybe other mods first.
