Hi All my CM1000 I bought in 2017 seems to be end of life, this past month I had to rent a Comcast all in one (I know) to rule out that it was the internet service but it definitely seems to be my modem at fault.

What would you guys recommend I replace it with? I’m limited to 1Gbps in my neighborhood.

I’ve always been an Arris fan. SB8200 should be good.

I love our Arris modem. It’s definitely rock solid.

    Avoid Intel based solutions https://lookgadgets.com/articles/intel-puma-modems-list/

Almost all 32x8 (capable of 1 gig) docsis 3 modems are going to be puma based.

No reason not to get docsis 3.1 unless you are truly cash strapped. That leaves the SB8200 if you’re ok with 1Gbe ports, or the S33 if you want a 2.5 port.

Never had good luck with anything netgear.

I have used Motorola’s and have never had one crap out on me. I just replaced my old 3.0 modem with the MB8611 and so far it is working flawlessly.

My unpopular opinion… Comcast’s XB7 and XB8 boxes are fine hardware wise. If you’re paying for unlimited data its literally cheaper to rent their modem with unlimited.

If you’re paying a monthly fee to rent, you’ll make your money back in a year by just purchasing a modem jnstead

Comcast charges $30 for unlimited data, and $25 for unlimited data + modem rental
