I think that meme gives all three too much credit
Perhaps, it’s more just a reflection of my mood towards it all over the last few weeks lol.
The fact the UK and France can hold elections so quickly and decisively in less than a couple of months (and have things generally work out better than expected) whereas the US has been dragging this out for years at this point makes me jealous lol.
Of course, the French and UK systems have their own issues too, but their recent elections have highlighted just how exhausting the US’s election cycles are; they’re a real slow burn.
I think it’s just the difference between the US and parliamentary democracies. In the US elections are on a fixed schedule, but with a parliament, you can have snap elections with little notice. In the US, everyone knows when the next election will be and have more time to plan/campaign
This makes sense.
I’ve been frustrated with the US system for a while now. It appears to overemphasize individual personalities over policy and also seems to be prone to gridlock. I often wonder if a parliamentary system would be preferable to what we’ve got right now lol.
Of course, my perception could also be influenced by recency bias: the last few (Presidential) election cycles in the US have felt quite dysfunctional to say the least.
You’re right, it’s very nuanced, I just wrote the first thought that entered my mind
I’ll add another derpy head for Mexico. I mean, we got our first woman president who means business but the race itself was a joke.
I’m happy it sounds like y’all at least got a positive outcome
It was better than expected! :D
We take those! Congrats my friend!
yo, you seen any of those clips from japan’s?
I feel like this is a reference to something I should know. lol
na, just the recent tokyo gubernatorial election had a lot of great statements from crazy candidates, i’m just agreeing that its all over the globe
Magnificent!
