I need to get a job at the Washington Post.

You can write five sentences and they call it an article

You missed a fairly hilarious one

How Trump Can Make NATO Great Again

The subtitle is “The alliance needs a MAGA makeover for the threats of the 21st century.”

I have already cancelled my subscription to the New York Times, since they are clearly the enemy and they don’t care who knows it, but the Washington Post I still have one to because I thought they were the good guys. I don’t think I can even easily cancel since you pay by the year. But… it’s not even like I’m offended because it’s a malicious article.

It’s like when a parent says, “I’m not even mad, I’m disappointed.” Like bro even if you’re doing propaganda I would expect you to have more sense than for THIS to be your strategy for it.

No shit right? An actual red-wedding in the making happening in the Democratic party and we get 125 words?

I’m like mixed on this whole shuck Biden thing. I don’t care for Biden, tho I think his administration has had some victories the DNC has been dogshit at bragging about, but if his mental faculties have been this poor and they’re still getting shit done, then it doesn’t really matter who’s president as long as they beat Trump.

That said, the media has been all too giddy about the idea of dumping Biden, and part of me wonders if that’s self motivated as they noticed that fear of the onset of fascism drove up the numbers of people watching and reading the news during the Trump Admin, thus allowing them to sell more ads. They’re too horny for it. I dun like it.

Edit: they’re like too excited to post about Biden being old vs Trump being a lying fascist piece of shit who is not qualified to be president. At least there’s far more articles about the former. I get it when people focus on that, because I trust people to take the latter as a given and be worried about the former because of it. But these aren’t people, they’re profit seeking bastards

I think thats a healthy dose of skeptisism and is warranted, at the same time, its important to look at the names and map them into the DNC party power structure. Its not Bernie Sanders or Warren or AOC making these calls. Its the Schiffs, the Pelosis, heck, I’m still trying to find a better source that meets the subs requirements, but there is a Jen Psaki story evolving where she is basically saying Biden should step down. Jen Psaki. Former Whitehouse Press Secretary for Joe Biden Jen Psaki.

My point is that the Schiffs and Pelosis and Psakis are the real power brokers here. The call is coming from “inside the house”. Its not even about the holding the Whitehouse at this point, its about not losing every single Senate and House seat on down the line. If this were party outsiders making these points and arguments, thats an entirely different conversation. When its Adam “I took 5 million dollars in Democratic donations and gave them to a Republican so I wouldn’t have to face a progressive” Schiff making the call for Biden to step down… well thats a horse of a different color.

Ah yes. News that disagree with your personally distorted world view is “agenda posting”.

Its today’s political new’s dude. I’m sorry that you boxed your world view in to be entirely on the wrong side of reality, but this is just whats happening in the world right now.

And yet of all the political news available today to choose from, you choose to post the same theme you’ve been posting, exclusively, for the last 3 days. At least the other guy threw out a token “see, I post other things” article once in a blue moon.

          🤷

You and lund both have been responsible for trying to promote a specific and narrow view of politics, that for a moment, the world agreed with you on. The Ozma ban was a form of propaganda by omission where you filter what news is made available to try and control a narrative.

That ban was an abuse of mod privileges and Lund should be removed as a mod for it.

And guess what? The world turned, and you are both now on the wrong side of history. We needed to have this serious conversation about Biden’s inadequacy as candidate 9 months ago, and we’ve been trying and you specifically have been trying to use brute force to silence that conversation. You need to be called out for it.

You can’t keep living in denial of the world around you or trying to control the narrative around what is “allowed” to be discussed or not.

The egg has cracked and there is no going back. This is just “the news”. Get over it and maybe self-assess.

It’s not controlling a narrative if someone is spamming a topic, sorry. Just generally sound moderating. Doesn’t matter what the topic is, if someone spammed only news about the Ukrainian childrens hospital, that should also earn a temp ban.

Variety is just important, especially when the community is small. Otherwise, conversation that should be concentrated in a few threads where a lot of interaction can happen gets fractured across a bunch of threads, and this hurts the community overall by reducing the amount of engagement everyone receives.

This is why megathreads for big topics exist, incidentally. To prevent conversation from being splintered. Perhaps you could request a pinned megathread?

It was cited in the ban that it was specifically because of this topic that is now the “only” topic of the news cycle. It was a politically motivated ban to control the conversation.

No, there are other things happening in the world, I’m afraid. Any topic can be over-posted, just don’t do it, try to exercise some moderation.

Or you be guilty of spamming. No matter the topic.

Have you actually read the rules for this sub? They are just to the right. Give them a quick read and tell me where this “rule” exists. It doesn’t.

It was acknowledged in the ban that it was a purely editorial/ political ban.

Holy shit! I haven’t seen anything about this on Lemmy today or on any other day like for the last 2 weeks.

I would think that for such a big story they would have posted something. But I didn’t hear a peep. Like not even anything similar.

It’s weird how much silence there’s been about it. Usually there are like 4 or 5 accounts that are all over posting particular types of stories that make Biden or the Democrats look bad.

Its just what it is my dude. Its a conversation we should have been having last January and was disallowed within the DNC, and down-voted to oblivion by Blue Maga here. But reality has this funny way of breaking through. This is the news. These are the headlines. You can either adjust your perceptive to accept the reality you find yourself (and perhaps acknowledge that the previous conceptions you had were wrong), or you can be relegated to the dust-bin of irrelevance.

This is all really big fucking news. That debate was historic. Replacing a candidate is historic. Having a media landscape in complete denial around a candidate for as long as they were, to have it all come crashing down like this: this is true history in the making. And a few of us, we had it right all along. And we tried to communicate that. Suddenly the entire world is coming around to what a minority of posters here were trying to communicate. And if you don’t find that your world view allows you to predict future states of reality, maybe you should question it. It might be that actually you were wrong in how you thought of things the whole time, and you should have been taking those things you dismissed more seriously.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Four House Democrats said during a leadership call Sunday that President Biden should drop his reelection bid, three people on the call told The Washington Post’s Capitol Hill team.

Those who forcefully made the case for the president to drop his reelection bid were: Reps. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.), Joseph Morelle (D-N.Y.), Mark Takano (D-Calif.) and Adam Smith (D-Wash.), according to the three on the call who were granted anonymity to discuss a private meeting.

The leadership call, usually held on Wednesdays when the chamber is in session, was moved up to Sunday afternoon by Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) amid members’ restlessness over Biden’s reelection prospects.

As the meeting was going on, Biden campaigned in Pennsylvania on Sunday.

He and his staff remain defiant against calls to drop his bid after a damaging debate performance.
