Sad as fuck, but if I were a child I’d be climbing those things and jumping between them having a grand old time

O, yeah. This is absolutely one of the things I would have thought was cool as fuck as a kid. Then as an adult questioned why the hell I was taken there for vacation.

Then a cool uncle would offhandedly point out how these defenses are optimistic about any Russian ship getting to the dry part of the sand.

This is Russian controlled territory, so they’re defending beaches against Ukraine, who has no navy.

I don’t understand parents who take children to an active warzone in enemy occupied territory for vacation. It’s also pretty gross the local authorities aren’t heavily discouraging it too.

My guess would be that it is people who live in an active war zone in enemy occupied territory. But who knows…

Crimea has been occupied for a decade, it’s hardly an active warzone.

And they aren’t crossing into enemy territory. People live there. And lots of them are Russian, including the authorities.

And finally, a beach might just be the safest place in Ukraine. What do you think is going to happen?

There were cluster bombs raining on the beach after russian AA shot down one of the rockets. But IIRC that beach was close to the military base, so it was pretty stupid to even go there.

Some people really want that Darwin award.

Plus there’s russian propaganda with 100% successful AA and everything being under control with their 3 day special military operation.

Well to their credit the AA did work that day. Would’ve been safer for the beach if it hadn’t.

Most of the time when russia successfully (according to russian media) intercepts missile or drone, the falling debris hits the intended target. Perhaps it was surprising that working AA actually leads to different outcomes.

And Russia claimed the attack targeted the beach, so we know for a fact it was indeed intercepted.

Russians were sunbathing on Thai beaches the day after the tsunami hit. While people were literally recovering bodies. A war won’t deter them.

Doesn’t Ukraine not have a built up Navy? Who’s idea was it to waste all the resources on building a sea wall?

Why even bother with the tank caltrop?

The tidal ones are way sturdier.
