Anyone else here not being able to middle-click a YouTube video’s thumbnail to open in a new tab? I can only do it on the video’s title now, and it’s quite annoying. I’m used to opening a few nice videos to watch in different tabs so I don’t lose them.
Edit: NiSwan’s answer fixed it for me, all back to normal.
Yeah it’s been driving me crazy. I disabled all my extensions thinking that was it but no joy. Glad to know it isn’t just me

You need to disable the inline videos. I found the steps in stackoverflow, it’s changed in your profile settings on YT.
Thanks, this actually solved it for me!
Edit: This also brought the “Watch Later” button to the thumbnail instead of hiding it on the 3 dots menu (1 click instead of 2 now!).I’m happy to spread the word!
I don’t use the YouTube webpage, but potential solutions:
- Use a browser extension to try to fix middle-click, like for example: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/link-fixer/
- Use an alternative YouTube frontend, like Invidious or Piped.
