There is a lot to be learned about today’s Republican Party from who is planning to skip the party’s nominating convention.

Those are all despicable assholes. The fact that they seem somehow decent compared to the others speaks volumes.

MAGA took the things that made the old GOP bad and dialed it all up to eleven.

“It tells you how much the world has changed,” said Mr. Gingrich, who will be one of the speakers at the convention. “It just doesn’t matter. They no longer have power in this party.”

Gingrich played a crucial role in getting the US into its current political situation; as the Speaker of the House during Clinton’s Presidency, he made partisanship a part of the republican party platform and turned compromise into a dirty word. It’s fitting that he is still a part of the Trump GOP, because he was instrumental in creating it.

We already knew this, but the old GOP is dead and now it’s just the party of Trump and MAGA.

there’s nothing to be learned except the architects of today’s GOP, from the 1964 Southern Strategy to present, are now too afraid to actual mix with the monster they themselves have created and loosed upon this nation and this world. republicans will destroy, then hide behind their gated communities watching the world burn. and those that are outside the walls, who are also burning and being destroyed, will thank them for not letting brown people succeed.

No shit Pence isn’t coming, I’m sure he’d prefer to stay unhanged.

It really is crazy how quickly MAGA turned on Pence… like, they were chanting they wanted to hang him.

I wonder if JD Vance really understands what he is getting into. MAGA is loyal to Trump, and they’ll cast Vance aside in the same way if he gets in the way.

Just like everything else behind the scenes of the modern GOP, people seem to think that they will be able to benefit from the Cult.

Vance wants to be King when Trump dies.

With or without a bullet to the face, Trump probably isn’t long for this world. He’s 78, his diet is reportedly not all that healthy, and I doubt he’s getting a lot of cardio in. His heart is probably going to give out within the next decade. When that happens, the cult of personality around him will need a new leader. On top of that, if Trump wins this election, he faces almost impossible odds of securing a third term. As that would require a Constitutional amendment, and 2/3 of the State governments aren’t going to sign off on that. So, someone needs to be set up as his successor, and being a popular (within the GOP) Vice President seems like a good way to line that job up. So, licking Trumps taint may well be a smart move by Vance. He just has to be careful to keep Trump from shitting all over him in the process.

Lol there is no way red states would ratify that amendment. That would mean giving Obama a 3rd term, or at least a very good shot at it
