Deere has been utter garbage for a while. Any piece of equipment they made (until recently) had software preventing replacement parts from being installed without a verified tech from their company (for whom you had to pay travel expenses for as well) turning what could have been a $20 home repair job into a decision to forgo a harvest or enjoy your farm going into debt.

Right, I know nothing about tractors and didn’t hear about the LGBTQ+ until this post, but even I know John Deere has been fucking over their customers with anti-right-to-repair shit for a while.

Why not just hire people who are qualified based on their experiences, personality, communication skills etc… (whatever is required for the job)? Not in a single interview will your sexuality EVER be brought up during an interview (well maybe in porn), why? Because it has NOTHING to do with the job you’re interviewing for.

You’re thinking the common view of affirmative action. DEI isn’t just about hiring. It’s about educating your workforce about different people’s backgrounds & lived experiences. If you hire someone who is ideal for the job with years of experience and an absolute win for the company, then some other schmuck cracks a deeply offensive joke based on their race, sexuality, age, disability, etc., you have essentially created friction within the team at best, but also the possibility of that hire leaving for a more inclusive company.
