Galaxy brain meme

  1. I wish I was [gender], but I’m cis
  2. Just experimenting, still cis though
  3. Post-transition gender same as identified gender, definitely cis

Can someone explain part 3? I’m an ally, just don’t understand the terminology. Is the joke that there was no transition, only experimentation?

Also an ally here. I think the joke is that they already transitioned and still don’t admit to themselves that they aren’t cis. Since gender is performative, experimenting is already being a different gender for a while in a way and you can admit that to yourself. That’s my interpretation as a tired ally (tired as in it’s late and I might not be thinking perfectly anymore)

The joke is using twisted logic to avoid identifying as trans. As I understand it, cis/trans usually refers to same/different identified gender vs that assigned at birth. Instead, we’re saying “well I’m a girl now, which matches what I wanted, no need to call myself trans”

Does that help? I’m very new to this myself…

My gender is perfect and immutable. It is only my understanding of my gender that has changed through transition.

Stupid ally question, does post transition mean you become cis since you’ve satisfied your gender identity?

No (that’s the joke), but part of me thinks that would make more sense than distinguishing people based on whether their AGAB matches what they currently identify as.
