Nigel Farage has condemned a Gay Pride event in Chesterfield after the LGBT celebration urged punters to “toss a milkshake” at a cardboard cutout of the Reform UK leader.

Attendees of the pride event, organised by Stand Up to Racism, were able to win prizes for hitting different coloured circles on the Nigel Farage model, including sweets and Stand up to Racism badges.

The stall offered punters sponge balls in four “flavours”, representing mango, raspberry mint and blueberry milkshakes.

The attraction made light of the assault suffered by Mr Farage while campaigning in Clacton during the general election.

Mr Farage has now told The Express that while he is “all for mockery and a good laugh”, he suggests that “this goes too far”

The newly-elected MP added: “Liberal intolerance is clear for all to see”.

The Derbyshire Times also reported one local man, Richard McAllister, who drew attention to the pride stall, fuming: “I think it’s particularly unacceptable after the assassination attempt on former President Trump”.

While Derbyshire Police said it had received a complaint, they said no further action is being taken.

The social contract goes. Only those that are tolerant are tolerated. If you break it you only have yourself to blame.

He’s not dead. Sounds like he’s being tolerated more than some victims of conservative belief.

So all conservatives are legitimate targets of violence, in your view?

Binary thinking leads to inane conclusions. For example, calling a lobbed milkshake violence as if that makes it the same as a brick to the teeth or an assassin’s bullet.

Get a grip and try to maintain a sense of proportion. We shouldn’t be accosting political figures at all, but the real threat is far to the other end of that particular slippery slope, and that’s where we should focus resources.

Yes, they do mean things. I use the word very specifically and deliberately when referring to fascists like Farrage. He is a fascist, in the model of Mussolini more than Hitler

I’d say he’s more a quisling, and it’s far from coincidental that so many of his talking points exactly match those in Russian propaganda oultlets such as RT.

Tolerance doesn’t necessarily entail “turning the other cheek”. Jesus actually said, “Show them both cheeks!”

That’s tolerance for ignorant, illiterate, bigoted racist fascists that is the extreme right.

So, they’re intolerant… of him? That’s pretty targeted intolerance, almost as if they’re not targeting an entire group of people based on one shared trait

I mean my first thought was bricks, but engine blocks, car batteries, forks, wheels of parmesan, or buckets of super glue would also work

Encouraging violence isn’t it. Especially after what we saw happen in America with one of their politicians being shot

Polling indicates that it didn’t really help him-- there was a smallish bump of 1-2% immediately after, but his numbers reverted to status quo after 3 or 4 days. As one commentator said, a rattlesnake that avoided a pitchfork is still a rattlesnake. Not that I am advocating the use of pitchforks against rattlesnakes, since they occupy a useful ecological niche.

There are so many things I’d like to say about that, but I’m going to let my better judgement prevail and will keep shtumm.
