Keep in mind that the AfD is a right wing party that has literal nazis in leading positions. I highly doubt that this is just a coincidence.

A member of the leftwing party DIE LINKE seems to have thought the same and filed a criminal report about it.

Edit: Oh, and fun fact. The AfD candidate whose name is on this poster is a federal police officer.

The piece manages to shed some light on recent events regarding extremism and the AfD here in Germany. Sadly it’s geoblocked here.

Other interesting revelations include connections between the AfD and Russia. The AfD pursues a policy of friendliness towards Russia and a stop to aid torwards Ukraine. In exchange Russia is trying to strengthen the party by spreading misinformation and probably financial aid.

Apart from the obvious Hitler salute, all I read is: vote for us for two legislation periods, so we get livelong pension payments. AfD is full of opportunists, failures and openly right wing supporters/neonazis. It will be a difficult time ahead for everyone with migration background, progressive movements, culture and artists, ecology groups etc once AfD is voted in the regional elections next month and federal elections next summer.

I fear that this will plunge Germany in a depression.

Opportunism and Fascism are very compatible.

When he wasn’t plotting his ascent to power in Germany and subsequent European domination, Hitler was working on an incredible array of money-making schemes. He surreptitiously pocketed collections from his rallies, channeled millions into personal accounts through government purchases of his book and secured a slew of image-rights deals that put LeBron James to shame.

It wasn’t only the adoring crowds that had no idea of his profiteering; the German taxman were also kept in the dark. By the time he was chancellor he owed $3 million in taxes, according to a British television documentary. Soon afterwards it was quietly decided that chancellors need not pay tax.

“He felt that paying taxes was beneath him,” explained Cris Whetton, author of the book Hitler’s Fortune. “He loved money. He just wasn’t prepared to do much work for it.”

It is, as they call it, a win-win.

I thought it was illegal to be, say, or have anything openly Nazi in Germany. How can they so openly be doing the “Heil Hitler” in their ads?

A lawsuit was already started over this. The AfD’s stance is that they can’t see a Hitler salute here, and anyway, the picture was created by a media agency they hired.

They will argue that it was supposed to represent roof, even when, regarding their party’s opinion, it most likely isn’t.
