MacOS is a great os, and it comes with solid hardware. If you use your laptop for anything except gaming, and you can pay premium, a mac is a really good choise. Also, it’s a lot easier to develop apps for iphones from macs, and that’s a thing that a lot of people do.

Given that’s actually the only way to do it… (Without resorting to jumping through hoops via emulation)

And that is why my code will never be multiplatform. No way I’m going to sink several thousand dollars for a machine I will never use except as part of my build pipeline.

I used my 2010 MacBook Pro for about 10 years before I decided to buy a new one (no longer supported by Apple). It ran great too, for being 10 years old.

I’m waiting for Linux support to come to iPads. I have an older iPad I would love to see Linux on.

Not all people can afford a $1000 laptop, and in most countries, it’s considered as a really big price

I might be an idiot, but I’m not going to use a Mac.

This meme also perpetuates the myth that to use Linux you must be an IT person. I just use it as a user.

This meme has the logos of the OSs from around 2007. Back then there weren’t many Linux non-IT users.

I actually prefer the newer ones, i always hated the like shiny 3d type of look. However some companies/designers/whatever do a bit to much nowadays. or should i say to little🤔

This may be a hot take, but I don’t think that on a linux specific meme community we should really care about what puts linux into a good light and what doesn’t. I mean have you seen vegancirclejerk? We are here to laugh and that can be achived by self-deprecating humor or parodying what others think of our system of choice as well.

I would switch MacOS and Microsoft. You really have to be an idiot to install that malware onto your computer voluntarily. MacOS is much safer and if you still have the need for shenanigans you have a Unix terminal to play with.

Weird you’re getting downvoted. I mean, they’re not literally idiots, sure, but macOS and Windows are both terrible options. Seems to be a lot of Apple fanboys in the comments.

It’s stable and works with most commercial software. I have homebrew that I use to install gcc and whatever else I need, and I have yet to experience an answer on a Linux forum not being directly applicable when I need to solve a problem. Best of both worlds if you ask me.

Pretty sure most homemade consumer computers are installing Windows. 70/30 tops.

(Maybe up to 50/50 if you don’t count professionally built custom PCs)

I’ve used Mac OS since 1988, BSD/UNIX since 1990, Linux since 1993 and Windows since 1995.

Due to my expertise with all these operating systems, I make enough money to have a life.

I predominantly use Apple hardware, partly because I can easily run all these OSes on it.

The Intel “cheese grater” pros were a dream multi-boot machine. EFI, clean, capable of great RAM, nice drive bays, dual ethernet.
