Can a plain text post be a meme?

I suppose someone could post the Bee Movie script and it would count, so yeah?

… Anyone know if Lemmy has a text post limit?

EDIT: I just noticed this is the shitpost community, not the memes one. I’m still not deleting my comment.

My guy, internet memes used to come in all sorts of forms. This whole “impact font on an image background” came slightly later, and exploded into more mainstream with the “advice animals” memes.

Desu, so I herd u liek mudkips, the game… Has Anyone Really Been Far Even as Decided to Use Even Go Want to do Look More Like?

Youngins! Get off my digital lawn!

      Alternatively, “normies get out! REEEEEEE!”

And if you go with the dictionary definition of meme, it’s just a kind of virally spreading idea.

Also, I just checked and 200 characters seems to be the limit on post titles. My inner troll is disappointed.

We used to download plain HTML and CSS over dialup. Now we won’t even read something that doesn’t come with up to a megabyte of colorful background.

I read more plain text posts than I do look at images, because sometimes there’s a delay with the internet and the images take several seconds to load.

No, if it was longer than a couple of paragraphs I wouldn’t have read it.

The only thing I have to say is

    BOTTOM TEXT

    I wouldn’t have read it because I can’t read.
