A man taking his trash to an apartment dumpster was shot and killed after he slipped while walking and the gun he was carrying went off accidentally, according to San Antonio police.

The solution is to put more guns into circulation.

    More guns equals more safety.

    Somehow.

If only there were a good guy with a gun, to prevent this bad guy with a gun from killing the innocent.

Too bad this guy was all 3.

Guns don’t go off from being dropped unless there’s a serious malfunction, or the hammer was set and the trigger was somehow pulled on a revolver. Most pistols have safety features to prevent the gun from going off even if the trigger is struck. My guess is that this dude was walking with his finger on the trigger or something. What a waste.

Can you imagine being so scared to take out the trash that you need to be strapped?

At first I read the headline, through dirty glasses, as “Man talking trash to dumpster…” which makes this story a bit less interesting than I was expecting.

Anyone read other coverages on this? Based on the article I didn’t see anything to counter indicate that he wasn’t just shot by someone who left the murder weapon at the scene.

What about this story suggests the man is “trash”?

That his gun fired after he slipped. It indicates that he didn’t respect the firearm enough to holster it appropriately. If you’re going to carry a gun, and not treat it with the respect it deserves, and to respect those around you by doing so – you’re trash.

That he was stupid enough to think he needed to carry a gun taking out the trash…

Some people don’t live in great neighborhoods. ¯\(°_o)/¯ It could’ve been one of those things where he’s taking out the trash and then hopping in the car going about his day.
