My head canon is that this is the wall in his quarters, he decorated it himself.
When there, he makes subordinates refer to him as Dr. Crane.
He always screams “Dammit, Niles!” when someone screws up. No one on the ship knows who Niles is.
But he’s a kind Captain with an open door policy. Anytime someone comes to him with a problem he looks intently in their eyes and says, “I’m listening.”
