You can tell it’s closed source… It has a great name.
People normally play this drunk?
no, but they used to use
wine
to play it, before that stopped working.
Reminder that the owner of this gamingonlinux site was a mod on this Lemmy community until they got called out for mod abuse to which they responded by deleting their lemmy account because they didn’t know mod logs are public.
Sober is not a way to play this, IMHO.
If you’re over the age of twelve, playing sober should be a last resort.
Why is this a controversial post 😭 I’m just glad gnux gaming is growing
works.
That’s cool, but idrc. Haven’t touched roblox since 2012

Do we seriously need to play roblox on linux?
My kids want to play Roblox, and I don’t want windows,. So yes, playing Roblox on Linux would be nice.
You should (if you haven’t already) do a little research about roblox before let your kids play on it.
I suggest these two videos :
atleast we have ruben sim…
You let them play roblox? Even the most tech clueless dad I know doesn’t let his kids play it due to the predatory practices
There are people who play Roblox. Would you rather they only have the option of playing on Windows?
Yes this game isn’t a game, it’s a online working platform for kids in disguise. It should not be even legal in the first place.
Its popular with the kids. You don’t have to play it.
You should stay on windows then, it’s very popular… Kids should stay on windows, it’s very popular with them. And we should never refuse something popular to kids obviously…
You’re missing the point, please go read responses I made to the others answers I’ve got.
No one said we need to play roblox on linux. We WANT to play roblox on Linux because its our computer and we want the freedom to play what we choose and not be arbitrarily limited by an asshole game studio.
Thanks for your reply :)
I think the problem with roblox goes far beyond the individual freedom to access a program.
What we both say isn’t mutually exclusive. But I do think that gaming Linux communities could take a stand on the kind of gaming world we want and the kind we don’t want…
Looking at the downvotes I get here and setting aside people who don’t like/understand irony, I feel either there are a bunch of roblox-fan (I sincerely hope it’s not it) or there are people like you who took the individual freedom to use a computer and apply it with crushing dogmatism (but without taking the time to expend on it like you did). But do gnu/Linux communities have to be chain to this ? I’m not sure. When twitter was shit, do we just said ‘never mind it runs on Linux, we’re free.’ ? Or reddit or Facebook ? No we discouraged actively to use those platform and we build alternative that are better for people. Here what do we have ? A gaming platform with predatory practices toward children and we give it access to our computer without even the game studio had to lift a finger for it. A new (and small yes, but still) market of users for what you called yourself a ‘asshole game studio’.
We don’t need to play anything on Linux.
What would you rather do then?
What does that have to do this?
Well if you’d rather nobody plays anything on Linux then you obviously have something else in mind so it has everything to do with this. You’re the one insisting that it should only be used for some other purpose.
I think you’re lost. My point was that of course we don’t need Roblox on Linux, we don’t need any games. So why draw the line at Roblox?
Well the way you said “we don’t need to play anything on Linux” implies that you’re against the idea, my response was asking what you’d be doing instead. I’m not lost, I was wondering what headspace you’re in that you’re against that entirely. However it looks like you meant it in a purely literal sense. Most games aren’t exploiting children though, so that’s why I’d draw a line there.
