The Algerian boxer at the centre of a gender row at the Paris Olympics has filed a legal complaint saying she has been a victim of online harassment.

Imane Khelif’s lawyer Nabil Boudi said the complaint was filed with the Paris Prosecutor’s Office on Friday.

On Saturday, the gold-winning boxer said: “All that is being said about me on social media is immoral. I want to change the minds of people around the world.”

Still a bit wild when you think about it: she comes from a religion that’s against it, a country that’s both against it and has it illegal, and she has no desire to change gender. Yet they all are saying she is.

If we infiltrate their online spaces to start talking about how “I’m transvestigating myself in case I am secretly trans!!!”, I’m sure some of these deluded idiots will start copying. It’s all an echo-chamber of fads.

I think those who still insists Imane is a man are doubling down because they can’t admit that they were wrong. Their ego is wounded. I saw some claims that, apparently, the Algerian government wilfully overlooked or changed Imane’s gender. As if that would ever happen for reasons you mentioned.

The Taiwanese boxer Lin Yu Ting who was also DQed by the IBA with no evidence also won gold. Her coach thanked JK Rowling, saying “most people probably didn’t know or care about women’s boxing. Now the whole world knows Yu Ting and Taiwan and that she is a champion.”

        Wouldnt be surprised.

Equally, wouldnt be surprised at them being behind that Turkish shooter who didnt use the special glasses.
Even though: it was a pairs event and he had a partner(who was using the glasses) and he wasnt the only person not using them.

He did nothing other than get a silver medal with his partner. But my suspicion is that he’s being used as s dog whistle meme. Because its a White-passing guy not using special gear, often being contrasted against an asian woman who is using special glasses.

Eh, you’re overanalyzing it. He became meme over his vibes, nothing to discredit the righteous winner.

I think both can be true. I’ve seen some shitty posts using him too; although you are correct that the main impetus was his casual AF vibe

              a White-passing guy

Not sure what that means. He looked like a pretty typical Turkish person. His skin isn’t even especially pale.

Turks aren’t Arabs. He’s as “white-passing” as Erdogan.

      Lock 'em up!

More seriously - I’d bet it’s not all that hard to trace back to the first person who made the online claim of her being trans. Maybe that person and/or a related platform that refused to take down the misinformation?

And for the record, I support her rights as a woman even if she had been trans. (And will spend 0 seconds of time arguing with anyone here about why.)

All that is being said about me on social media is immoral.

I worry that with the country she’s from, that she’s referring to being trans as immoral, and not the baseless accusations.

Its interesting that being called trans seems to be the new being called gay.

It’s because currently being gay is more accepted than not in western countries, you don’t generate controversy with that you just expose yourself for being an asshole, well trans are not yet accepted to that degree

66kg, or 145.5lbs “junior welterweight” if your country went to the Moon.
