"Bhikkhus, these are three growths. Which three?

The growth of confidence (faith),

the growth of virtue,

the growth of wisdom.

These, indeed, bhikkhus, are the three growths."


Here, the growth of confidence comes from having an inquisitive mind - to inquire into the teachings with close examination and independent verification by applying the teachings into one’s practice to observe for the benefits to the condition of the mind, without building any beliefs.
