The ruling was a blow to Mr. Kennedy’s independent campaign for president. The judge said that he had used a “sham” address to claim residency in New York.

Picking a Presidential and Vice Presidential candidate from the same state, and trying to cover it up with a sham address is the kind of thing brain worms make you do.

      It prevents geographic monopolization of power, so that there isn’t one all-powerful state. Written into the original Constitution and modified somewhat by the 12th amendment.
