What a weird focus on the US democratic party. Every single US government has been doing this exact same thing.

What a weird whataboutism. No US government has ever supported israel in a blatant Holocaust.

Even the Republicans that supported an israeli Genocide told israel to cut it off after 3000 killed Palestinians.

If Trump was doing this you’d be up in arms. But Blue MAGA all the way.

A history of U.S. presidents drawing red lines with Israel

During the Suez Crisis of the 1950s, then-President Dwight Eisenhower leveraged the threat of sanctions to convince Israel to withdraw from the Sinai Peninsula, per AP.

Back in 1981, former President Ronald Reagan indefinitely delayed two shipments of F-16 fighter jets to Israel over the ‘‘escalating level of violence’’ in the Middle East.

In 1992, the Bush administration threatened to withhold the delivery of $10 billion in loan guarantees to Israel if it continued building settlements in the occupied West Bank and Gaza, the Washington Post reported.

In essence the entire US Government regardless if Republican or Democrat are complicit in this ongoing genocide.

That is true, but Republican’s electoral base mostly agrees with this whereas democrat’s electoral base doesn’t. Many Pro-republicans will gleefully vote for genocide or deny than that’s what’s going on. Pro-democrats, however are asked to tolerate genocide to vote for the lesser of two evils. It makes sense that the latter will protest and demand that the politicians who are supposed to represent them change their ways.

Getting rid of zionistic tendencies won’t just happen during one legislative period. But I’m not deep into US Politics so I can’t make any statements or suggestions how to get rid of this heinous stance.

So yeah voting democrats is the lesser evil on only this topic, while it is a way better choice regarding other more domestic issues.

Because if just one similarity exists that means both are the same. Now that’s the most basic and simplistic world view I’ve ever heard.

Also you could have clarified that you meant to say that both parties have the same stance on the issue, but no you had to also attack me as I can`t read your mind.

Whether the winner is Trump or Kamala, both of them will still keep supporting Israel; as their actions benefit US overall. Trump even had the chance to resolve the israel palestine crisis back when he was the president. He didn’t. Why would he change policies after he’s elected again?

    Dear Leftists,

You claim to hate whataboutism, yet every time someone suggests voting for Harris so Trump doesn’t win and thus do irreparable harm to Gaza, to large numbers of vulnerable Americans, to the climate, and to our ability to vote at all, you say “whatabout democrats”. Curious!

      Dear Liberals,

Democrats are committing Genocide right now. Trump is not the president. It is not 2016. You can’t blame Trump for Demcrats doing a Nazi Holocaust.

      Kind regards.

I’m sorry but short of a revolution (which is unlikely), or slow, measured positive change over the course of decades (which we’d still have to fight hard for), we’re stuck with a two party system and you shouldn’t blame people for sticking with the lesser of two evils. I do agree that Liberals can be heavy handed with their bans, but I guess they’re doing so to keep the discourse focused. Trump is a very real and immediate threat who might commit far more heinous crime if he becomes the president again.

Policy change comes from people resisting policy with their votes. Abortion is on the agenda because people demanded it with votes. This is no different.

Enough people start demanding it and it will happen. No matter how much politicians want to sell out, they can only do so if you vote for them.

Dear person who refuses to argue in good faith,

First of all, last I checked, Netanyahu was committing genocide, not the Democrats. Second of all, Trump has promised to funnel arms to Israel harder than Biden currently is, and he stands a very real chance of winning the 2024 election.

        1. There are two choices in the United States 2024 election. No third party stands a ghost of a chance of winning. No, not even if the 30,000 people you can reach on Lemmy all vote for Timothy Greenparty.
        2. A Trump victory in 2024 would not only be just as bad if not worse for the citizens of Gaza than Harris would, but also pose an existential threat to a large number of vulnerable Americans (trans people, immigrants, women seeking abortions).
        3. Given the margins of victory in 2016 and 2020, Kamala might not win if leftists don’t vote for her.
        4. Snoozing fascism for four years is better than inviting it through the door now, and buys us time to build our defenses for when it comes back.

I’d like to focus my counterargument. Which of these statements do you disagree with?

EDIT: why am I not surprised that you left a downvote but not a reply?

Sounds like shipping 14,000+ 2,000 pound bombs to israel.

Sure sounds like Biden should start using his leverage over israel if he wants to achieve that ceasefire. If only he had the power to do that amiright haha.

No, you’re not right. We have literally ZERO idea what happens in the talks for a ceasefire. Sure I agree we should just stop sending them weapons. Is it that cut and dry? And especially now with dipshit Donny and bibi talking on the side.

We know. Blinken goes to israel, promises Netanyahu more weapons and asks him what lie he needs to say to blame Hamas. Then Blinken goes to Egypt and tells Sisi to help israel.

And especially now with dipshit Donny and bibi talking on the side.

Half the Trump stage is israeli flags not sure why people are acting surprised at a phone call.
