Some commuter Express routes operate on very limited stops so depending on when you got on you may very well have gotten on right before they hit the freeway and don’t stop till the next town

Lmao I basically did this as a kid on the school bus.

Bus driver forgot my stop(Small school, so we were dropped off directly at our house). It wasn’t until the last kid besides me was dropped off that I realized the driver wasn’t just taking a weird route that day, and it wasn’t until we got to the FUCKING BUS YARD that I actually popped my head over the seat and made my presence known.

To explain why I didn’t say anything, I lied and pretended I had been asleep the whole time and had just woken up

I’ve had bus drivers take the wrong route. Then refuse to stop when I asked so I could just walk to my transfer. Ended up needing to walk over a mile because they told me I’d have to wait for the next stop. It was so infuriating I don’t even blame people for not asking. I submitted a complaint about it later.

    Completely off-topic:

Did not anticipate how hard “We’re going on an adventure” would hit me with feelings of horror after reading “Children of Ruin”. Good work Tchaikovsky. Holy shit that mix of possession and zombie-horror with perfectly natural explanations in a hard scifi scenario really did a job on me, even years after finishing the book.

Ha! I just made the exact same comment. It had the same effect on me too.

There are dozens of us! Dozens!

No, really, the books are quite broadly known among the very narrow group of hard sci-fi fans.

Oh gosh, that phrase just conjured up nightmare scenes from the novel Children of Ruin.
