I’d like to see this writer’s reaction to the trend of people taking their music with them - and for everyone else - coming out of their backpack.

In general, I think most people are just blurting out things like this on the trail because they are just happy to be there and are trying to share that feeling with others. If someone really doesn’t want to engage in the small, I suppose some visible headphones might help stave that off? Just pop them on when you see/hear people coming…
