Taking long to release a new game isn’t the problem imo. The real problem is how shit online was from day one and them starting to milk that online cow dry from day one with with boring grindy missions and microtransactions.

I’ll see reviews and if the single player is good, and I mean really good, I’ll wait for a PC release and buy it, but if that happens, I promise to never even touch any Rockstar online mode, unless a real miracle happens and they actually make it fun to play, which most definitely won’t happen.

Then again wouldn’t be too surprised if rockstar fucks up tue single player too this time. They probably eventually will do that to one of their games with how things have been going.

That’s what we want, though? This isn’t about boycotting them, it’s about being burned out on waiting and seeing re-releases on new platforms.

The issue portrayed is that every other game lasted only a few years and things were better and healthier. Moving on to 6 invalidates this meme altogether until they announce it’s also going to last over ten years.

Well, why wouldn’t they if ppl keep buying and paying? Same with Skyrim. We can all complain about them overly relying on their one trick pony, if ppl keep paying, they’d be stupid not to give those ppl something to pay for.

Also - I’d have totally bought single player DLC from them, but I guess why make a $40 DLC that people only buy once when you can sell $1000’s in shark cards to a few whales over and over again.

Honestly I’m not even that interested in GTA6 at this point, I don’t do GTAO (too grindy) and it’s painfully clear that Rockstar doesn’t give a shit about single player anymore. Hell even in RDR2, a shitload of content that could have easily been ported to single player is locked down in online mode

I’m sore that they’d actually planned single player content for GTA V, akin to that of GTA IV. TBOGT and TLAD were so good, like full standalone games, but just reusing most of the map, assets and engine. However when GTA Online’s success exceeded expectations, they cancelled the single player content and cannibalised it into sub-tier disjointed online junk, leaving behind unresolved single player storylines and hints, that were supposed to feature in the expansions, in their wake.

Yeah, I do kind of hope that this insane games as a service crap dies down significantly. The gaming industry has really lost my interest since 2010 and it doesn’t seem to be putting out anything that scratches my gaming itch anymore.

Totally agree - it’s just plain unfettered greed on R*'s part. Though part of the blame definetely belongs to the whales who encourage this BS by spending thousands of dollars on a single game

Online content only isn’t the problem. Especially not in a game such a rdr2 in which you could spend 200 hours and not even have discovered everything.

Not the main problem, but it is a problem. While you’re right about it taking a long time to do all there is to do in RDR2, there’s no reason besides greed to lock the majority of (for example) outfits to online mode.

Not to mention that I’ll bet anything that we’ll never see a single-player DLC for RDR2 - but the Online mode is getting new content all the time

GTA 4 was the last great one, especially with the DLCs. 10 years of GTA v and not one single player dlc. Red dead as well, despite the series being ripe for a Sadie dlc

GTA V is a masterpiece. What they did with gta online and all the micro transactions on the other hand is really shitty. But that doesn’t change the fact that single player gta 5 is a really really good game.

Hm looks like each game takes ~2x time to complete and release the next, thus we can accurately estimate that GTA7 should be out around 2044, Just in time for my grandkids to enjoy it!

Gta 5 was amazing when it came out, they didn’t milk it until later. And Rockstar might as well take my money now for gta 6

They cancelled every piece of single player DLC in order to force people online and towards the Shark Cards.

I was about to buy it at 40% off before I saw that it was a bundle deal that sells the game at 60% price, and shark card 40% price.

So fuck that, I am now a permanent conscientious objector against GTAV.

I never finished it, but I’ve still enjoyed what I’ve played of it. I’ve also never played online. The whole point of GTA is that you can do whatever you want without affecting any real people. Making it multiplayer was never a good idea.

There was a short period of time where GTA Online was perfection to me. Some QoL stuff hit and you didn’t need to spend real money to hold your own decently while running around. Didn’t last long.

multiplayer wasn’t possible until gta5, so they weren’t purposely making it not affect real people, that was just the nature of the technology. Gta online in its hay day was fucking amazing.

Because they don’t make enough cash with it’s online mode. GTA V and RDR2 are still great SP games.

Single player is good. Online was always shit. I mean, at first online was really fun just messing with friends in the big map, but once that got old, there’s nothing but grinding boring missions and microtransactions since day one.

You’d all still complain about them milking the series if they made a bunch more sequels instead.
