I mean, there are already similar alternatives approved by the FCC, but they aren’t deploying nearly as quickly. Some were questionable from the beginning to be honest.
Not sure what they expect to be able to do about some companies deploying slower or faster than others without directly pushing and tipping the scales unfairly.

SpaceX is one of the only companies seriously investing into this kind of technology. Virtually every company that claims to be working on something similar winds up closing within 4 years after taking investors money and producing little more than vaporware.
I guess what I’m saying is, put up or shut up. They aren’t monopolizing the industry because they’re muscling out the competition, they’re just the only ones bothering to actually compete.
