    My ancestors were on the wrong side, but I did have an ancestor lose his land and home because he executed a slave, but it turned out he messed the paperwork up and really killed a free man. The land was ultimately awarded to the free man’s family

        Thing is is that the guy didn’t even go to prison. He ended up moving a few states away and died of consumption. He died alone, poor, and obscure. First example I’ve seen of someone getting cancelled lol

    I was born and raised in Texas, fuck the Confederacy. All the dumbass descendants of the horrible people that were in charge back in the day made my life miserable.

    The only side of my family who was in the country at the time were Quaker, so probably didn’t have anything to do with the war. Could be worth looking into, though.
