Hello minis gang, here is your second of an ongoing series of regular community posts. If you have any ideas for new ones please DM me!
In this thread which I will leave up all week, we can post the minis we are working on but which aren’t ready for a full showing yet!
I like this community post idea.
Here is what I’ll be working on this week. A bunch of giant insect mutants for Pathfinder 2e. On the right is a finished one which I used for color scheme testing. Eventually the dragon in the background will be the boss but I likely won’t get to painting that one this week.
This week I’ve re-printed some of the first models I ever printed & painted, gonna see how much I’ve improved in the last three years or so. At this point all you can really see is the super stark difference between the original FDM prints (I think at 0.6mm layer height) and the new resin prints (0.05mm layers, iirc) which I’ve just drybrushed.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not an amazing painter now, but even just some contrast paints and basic highlighting should be a massive improvement!
I don’t think I got the spear angle quite as good this time, but at least his wrist isn’t bent at a super unnatural shape this time eh. Less threatening but also less of an orthopaedic disaster in waiting.
Working on a little dino guy from GW. I’m having some trouble with picking out the colors for his shoulders and head but I think I might be there. That part isn’t finished yet, but the rest of the body is further along.
Nice! That looks really good and I bet its great practice too. Let us know how it looks once you’re done!
Thanks! I’m going to start learning NMM on this. The thigh armor, shield, and sword are all going to be NMM, so you’ll see a few more WIPs before you see the final result I reckon :D
Awesome! Could I tempt you to record your experiences with NMM and write a little guide for the community??
Aaaah maybe in a few months or something. Considering this will be my first time learning NMM, making a guide for it seems impossible. I can post updates on these threads if you like, and we’ll see about a guide further down the line.
Cool updates would be perfect! I’m also gearing up to try NMM so really keen to hear how it goes for you.
Will do for sure, and likewise! I’ve been pushing it back for a while because it’s so daunting. I don’t have very good brush control so this is definitely going to be pushing me to my limit.
