The enshittification continues…

Is there a way to play without having to deal with ads (or their over-priced subscription)?

Looks like you can play Lingo (the original name of the game) at www.lingolingolingo.com

I only just looked it up, so I’m not sure if it ends up repeating a lot of the puzzles or not.

Try changing your DNS resolver and to dns.adguard.com or use airplane mode before opening the app.

Oh wow, AdGuard’s public DNS is good! It never crossed my mind to just use a DNS that filters known ad hosts on the entire device. I thought I had to set up a Pi-hole to accomplish that, though I’ll probably still set one up anyway.

I deleted the games app quite a while ago and now I just use safari. I haven’t noticed any lack of features and it doesn’t drain my battery like their shitty app. AdGuard and NextDNS seem to block all the NYT ads just fine that way too.

If you’re on mobile, the NYT Games app doesn’t have ads – at least not yet.

I’m on Android. There are ads now.

Interesting. I guess I haven’t gotten that update yet.

          That’s unfortunate.
