Wrapping up its first season, I think we’re supposed to get a harvest starting year three.

    Awesome, I’ve never tried that one before any tips or big things you’ve learned? Also it takes 3 years before harvest?

      Yes, and then you have an asparagus bed for 5-15 years. After the soil is depleted, you can’t use that patch of soil anymore for asparagus for like 30 years. Source: my parents have always had at least one, usually two, beds of asparagus.

    good for getting a stick or two, or for growing seed asparagus, but asparagus gets big. real big.

      Only if you let it go. If you’re cutting it for eating, it only gets as big as you let it. (And if you let it grow past normal eating size, it won’t be very good to eat.)

        Yeah if you dont harvest it while its practically just emerged, you are just eating wood.

    Good to know it’s ok that my asparagus looks the same in its second year. It’s a little unruly. Haha.
