Just to be clear, these are donors acting individually rather than a coordinated effort by any Democratic party.
I just love these “confidently incorrect” moments. Did you read the article?
which means the Democrat and Republican Partys’ actions are coordinated based on the donors’ wishes not the people’s
That’s…not at all what that means.
How is it not? This is money = speech; fuck those without cash
For those who didn’t skim the article, they’re donating to far right candidates in primaries hoping it will make Republican chances of winning lower.
Fuck this kind of political gamesmanship. We need ranked choice so fucking bad.
Man, I’m not sure it would help when half the country doesn’t believe Trump tried to overthrow democracy.
If more than half the country is insane then America is an insane country. The number of insane people seems to be around 35% right now - but if it did get above 50% then, well, we’re fucked. Do we admit America is a failed state or do we form an authoritarian liberal government to steer the population correctly inspite of the popular will.
That’d be a fucking hard question and I hope we don’t get there - as long as possible I’d like to believe in democracy.
Nah it would. I’ve spoken to a lot of Republicans that don’t like trump a lot, but feel he best aligns with what they would like the government to do. Giving them a saner option would probably siphon off votes from trump
That’s the same strategy that brought us trump, right? Go dems! lmao.
Outside of Trump this strategy was largely effective.
What an interesting strategy. Let’s just hope rich Republicans don’t try to turn the tables. Oh, the sweet liberal tears I would cry if we ended up with Democratic candidates that leaned farther left than those we already have!
Tears of joy, but still.
Yep, let’s pay to ensure the Overton Window keeps moving to the right. Sounds clever.
