Sony seem all-in on Astro Bot as a mascot over Sackboy, so LBP might just be buried as an IP outside of crossover references.
I remember growing up and always seeing my parents playing LBP 1 & 2 so when I finally got a PS4 that’s the game I wanted and I got 3 for Christmas.
I played it like twice
Sucks that AstroBot isn’t couch coop. LBP series has been great with my kid. I wonder if this forebodes doom for Sackboy as well.

LBP 3 was a major disappointment since it was made by a different dev team but… Removing it entirely? Why? Licensing issues?
With LittleBigPlanet 3 gone and 1-2 stuck in PS3, that means you can’t even play the franchise anymore. Wow. That sucks.
All the online/user created content was lost for all these games too, iirc. Sony took the servers down for maintenance and never brought them back. A decade of work, dusted.

To this day LBP 1 has some of the most incredible level design I’ve ever seen. I know some of the later entries had wilder stuff going on, but the original limiting itself to almost entirely using basic blocks and shapes with visible logic switches/machines, was so magical to me as an aspiring game dev. It was like they were putting their money where their mouth was. You can create stuff this crazy, too, because we just built it out of basic shapes.
Anyone interested in a successor should check out Restitched.
I hope this is good, because those photos on the store page are sending me straight back to LBP on the PSP. I’m extremely excited.
I heard one of the devs talk about it and it seems like a real labor of love from true lbp fans. If they can get it to release it’s gonna be so good.

what happened to the game I loved
Damn. This makes me sad. LBP was one of my favorite franchises growing up. I’m hoping that we’ll get a PC trilogy release of some sort, but that’s just hoping probably.
