And someone monkeyed with the thermostat and WHY IS THIS WINDOW OPEN I’M NOT PAYING TO HEAT THE OUTDOORS!

Home automation is really helpful to solve those issues. Heating will turn off if a window is open for more than one minute. Heating schedule is controlled centrally (and enforced every few minutes, so even touching the thermostat has no impact). I’m trying to move to presence sensors as well to cut on the lights on forever.

Basically, to enter, they’ll need to enter their payment information, and at the end of the haunted house, they’ll be billed based on the bills incurred by the house during the session. Now that’ll be true horror.

This isn’t Monsters, Inc.! Look at this, gee whiz! The place isn’t powered by screams! Can I get one person in this dang haunted house in my side here? Don’t you know global warming is real?

Aw, for cripes sake! is that an INCANDESCENT? Yep, I can feel the heat coming off of it. Where’s the ladder in this place?

Also all the doors are open, and the heat is on at the same time as the air conditioner.

When I read it I specifically thought to myself “at least it’s just the lights and not a heater on at the same time as an air conditioner”

I’m a dad, but I leave lights on all the time, they’re LEDs and could care less about the 5$/yr it adds to the electric bill LMAO

It’s just as much about the planet. The power has to come from somewhere, and a lot of people couldn’t care less about the 5$/yr.

It’s only that cheap because the power it uses is inconsequential.

Besides, shifting the blame for climate change to the average person is exactly what many industries want. “It’s not OUR fault our plants dumped all this pollution because we resisted all the greener ways of power generation, it’s yours because you didn’t turn the thermostat to 85°/Turn off the lights/left your TV in standby/Left your phone charging over night”

When you go through the house and turn them off, the ghosts mysteriously turn them back on as soon as you leave the room…

    Every floorboard creeks.

    Every toilet flap is stuck.

    All faucets drip.

The worst part is that it’s my pet peeve and my own fault. I try to keep my kitchen relatively organized-ish so I can cook quickly. When a cabinet is open, whether or not I see it, I’m blind to it and inevitably hit my head on an edge

No cap actually a great concept. Titanium white lighting on eggshell walls for an entire mansion that suddenly comes to life when the haunting starts: you can see the dark murky corpses crawling towards you down the hallway.

    Sort of like the Shining.
