TBH, I’m not sure how many other Portlanders are “here”, here. :)
But just in case, here’s the link to watch the debate live!
Edit: This link has the full recording as well!
Also on terrestrial television, channel 8.
This is really the first time I’ve seen the candidates speak for themselves.
City Council Members:
Rene Gonzalez
Carmen Rubio
Mingus Mapps
Trucking executive:
Keith Wilson
Stripper and Arts Advocate:
Liv Osthus
Gonzalez has drawn fire for more law and order, right wing style policing policies along with a financing scandal for altering his Wikipedia pages.
Rubio has had issues with LOTS AND LOTS of parking and traffic tickets. More than can be rationally explained.
Keith Wilson, I’m sure, is a lovely guy, but he looks like someone voted most likely to be cast as a Nazi in an Indiana Jones movie. ;) I know, I know, totally unfair… but LOOK at him…
Thank you for posting this
#17 Osthus - No politcal or business experience. You claim to be a cheerleader and figurehead.
#15 Wilson - You have no political experience, what makes you qualified?
#3 Raise your hand if you believe the city or county should hand out funding to organizations providing tents.
#1 - All - What grade would you give the cities homeless response and what would you do differently (without pointing fingers at the county.)
#18 Mapps - You declared quite early but struggled with fundraising, same as city commissioner. Why the struggle?
Aaaand here we go!
#7 Osthus - Should more housing the be answer and what would you do?
#11 Raise your hand if you feel safe walking through downtown Portland at night.
#13 Portland Central Business District has the highest vacancy rate in the country, how do you reverse that?
#10 All - What role do you see for Portland Street Response?
#6 Rubio - Specific policy related to homelessness you can achieve.
#4 Raise your hand if we should continue funding the joint office of homeless services.
#2 Raise your hand if you think jail is a necessary threat to encourage people to seek shelter.
#5 Wilson - respond to the criticism of your homeless plan from Rubio and Gonzalez.
