Denver’s annual homeless count for 2023 shows a 31.7% rise in homelessness, with 9,065 individuals found in a single night, up from 2,634 last year. This includes a significant rise in families and first-time homelessness. Homelessness Management Information System data suggests this figure may reach around 28,000 throughout the year. These increases are largely attributed to the economic fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic, the end of relief funds, an increase in eviction filings, and rising housing costs.
