And: Who doesn’t want to die a gruesome death should not go into this specifoc corridor on that storey. But hey, have fun finding your classroom with all the doors and stairs, that so often lead to random different places.

We have a saying here, which would also fit for Hogwarts: Up to 10% lost is still OK XD

I think the only time students died at Hogwarts was in book 7, when there was, y’know, a war going on. There were definitely some close calls almost every other year, though.

Cedric Diggory: “damn, glad that was just a close call”

Technically not at Hogwarts, but definitely a result of his participation in the Triwizard Tournament. (Coupled with Harry’s good sportsmanship, which makes the situation all the more tragic.)

Whie the circumstnces were a bit more complicayed, he died in a Triwizard tournament which is known for being dagerous - and possibly deadly too. Didn’t it go on a 100 year long hiatus because of a participnt death?

I’m not sure if it is ever stated exactly how long the hiatus was, but it is “centuries”, plural is implied:

‘The schools took it in turns to host the Tournament once every five years, and it was generally agreed to be a most excellent way of establishing ties between young witches and wizards of different nationalities – until, that is, the death toll mounted so high that the Tournament was discontinued.’
‘There have been several attempts over the centuries to reinstate the Tournament,’ Dumbledore continued, ‘none of which have been very successful. However, our own Departments of International Magical Co-operation and Magical Games and Sports have decided the time is ripe for another attempt.’

He didn’t die in the tournament though. He was killed in Little Hangleton after he had already won. The only connection to the tournament was that Barty Crouch Jr. used the Triwizard Cup as a portkey in an attempt to kidnap Harry.

Yeah, as I said - circumstances were a bit more complicated. And while technically yes, they already won it the tournament was not ended yet. Technically

I didn’t include her since her death fell outside the timeline of the seven books, and was only seen in the diary/pensieve. You are correct though, that it was indeed a student death at Hogwarts.
