I remember using an app that blocked spam calls using a collaborative database. The one I use now is Truecaller, but it’s always trying to get me to subscribe. I liked the one I used before better. What is the best caller ID app that can block spam that you know about?

Came here to say that. A suspected spam caller won’t even cause the phone to ring.

nice, thanks. I have a OnePlus phone so the Google Phone app wasn’t installed on it by default. But I just installed it… hopefully fewer robocalls from now on.

Came from a OnePlus 6t to the Pixel.

The CEO had just left to create Nothing. OnePlus 7 owners were complaining about the newly merged interface. So when it was time to change - three year cycle - I went to Pixel 7 Pro.

Still got Nothing on my list for a Pixel 10 competitor.

Which OnePlus do you have and what do you think of it?

I have a OnePlus 8. I’ve had it for what feels like a while now… 3 years if I had to guess? Can’t remember honestly. But the battery life kicks ass, and it charges really quickly with the “warp” charger.

I only do a little bit of customization… I switched from Nova Prime to Kvaesitso recently and am liking it… but have never rooted or changed OS. The camera leaves a little to be desired, but that’s ok, I have a real camera for when I need to do that.

I probably won’t look for another phone until this one gets bogged down or otherwise broken, and when I do, I usually just see what my carrier has that isn’t super expensive. I generally avoid iPhones, and I prefer to stay away from Google as much as reasonably possible (I know I just installed their phone app, I know, I know) so I haven’t really considered a Pixel. But my arm could be twisted… I dunno.

            I haven’t heard of Nothing!

              Thank-you. I’m much the same.

Ooh that’s cool looking. Thanks! Definitely will keep an eye out for it when the time comes.

    The one built in?

Why are you giving your information to 3rd parties, who will sell that same information to places that will send you spam. I don’t get it.

I use a Pixel and spam detection and filters have never been better with Google Phone built in features.

For an open source solution, DivestOS’s Carrion is probably the best bet. There are a few others kicking around f-droid as well.

I haven’t used it, but I’ve heard good things about it and I enjoy many of their other apps. I too just use the google pixel blocker because its way too good.

Thanks for the tip, I’m trying to be google-free, so I’m testing it out. A little too late for election season, oh well
