For anyone wondering why Biden would need to approve this, here’s an excerpt from the article:

While Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said at the time that the matter was still under discussion, Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz explained that a decision by all of NATO’s member states would be necessary to take this step.

Why does Poland has to ask for the permission of the US to shoot down missiles in their neighbour country, which would be fine by it?

What has the the US even to say about that?

Even considering a NATO thing, Poland is still able to act as they see reasonable.

I’m really not sure what to make of this and am asking myself mostly wtf?, or if I’ve just missed something of a geopolitical agreement here, that I haven’t known of.

Because if Russia retaliates it means all of NATO goes to war with Russia. Kind of a big deal that you maybe don’t want to just decide on your own.

So, no NATO state can act on its own? Oo

        I don’t think that’s the case.

Also, shooting down missiles isn’t an act of aggression. So I’m not sure if that really would escalate that much

That “if” is doing a lot of heavy lifting and maybe Poland doesn’t want to yolo World War 3.

To make this a black and white issue is kinda weird when the severity of being wrong is so high. Just because Poland is being a considerate partner to other NATO member states doesn’t mean it’s required to act that way.
