Got a smoker a few weeks ago so I’ve been trying different things. I’ve already done a whole chicken, pork chops, a pork butt, some salmon. Gonna try some brats today for lunch.
Any suggestions as to what to try?
That sounds amazing. I grilled brats on charcoal last weekend and that was already amazing. Smoker would take it to the next level.
The skin ended up being pretty tough, but it had a great taste
I work in meat and I’ve always been jealous of people who could buy a whole brisket for smoking. If you know enough people to give it away to, I’d go with that.
Brisket is definitely on the list. I’ll just need to find a small one, or get a big one and cut it in half or something. I can’t do more than 14 or so hours since I need to feed wood chips to my smoker every half hour or so

Well I recently got a super good deal on a second ha d espresso machine (had to fix it myself but basically got a 700 dollar machine for 250) so today was about espresso martinis.
Had a shot at a cosmopolitan, which is dangerous.
It’s not a cheap or healthy hobby so I’ll stick to this.
Still, that’s awesome. I’m still a beer guy and haven’t gotten into mixed drinks yet even though I have a full bar.
I used to be huge into beer but some time mid thirties I noticed beer makes me tired now and wine and spirits don’t.
I do love beer culture though, it’s changed so much in the past decade too. Went from old dudes in Belgium making tradbeers to “Copacabana bubblegum sour haze” on tap … if you asked me from the past what that was I would have guessed it was weed.
I’m taking a mini road trip in a couple hours to visit my little brother and his wife for the weekend.
Working a little, gaming some and making dinner for the dad on Sunday.
I’m working on my new house, painting and stuff ; fucking things up, learning and iterating.

Thanks! Today’s plan is the second layer of paint in the living room, fix a not very well paint job on the ceiling, and replace the tack strip in another room. We’ll see if I have time for more.

It’s kind of neat, you can still hang out with friends but all your life admin can be done when everyone else is at work.
I hate having to do shopping in the weekend
Acclimating to the darn heat. And playing Cities Skylines. And watching Star Trek Strange New Worlds ep 1. And commenting on Lemmy.
I’ve never been to the largest market in my city. Gonna go there this weekend!
